What made you choose KTH?

I had several years of working experience before I decided to start a new master's programme. KTH was my first choice because it always has a high ranking, and it has a well-designed machine-learning programme, which is my favourite major. Another important reason is that one of my friends who graduated from KTH told me that KTH is a good university where you can learn lots of useful knowledge and skills.

What made you choose Stockholm / Sweden?

Sweden is famous for its kind and hospitable people, wonderful Nordic culture, highly developed industry, beautiful landscapes, and clean air and water. Stockholm is a great city, and I was deeply attracted to it after I had a visit to Stockholm in 2017.

What made you choose your programme?

I believe that AI has a strong ability for solving different kinds of problems and might be more powerful than any other tools, and the AI industry can be one of the most promising domains in the world. So there are a lot of chances to run business with AI: 1) 5G technology is developing quickly, and 5G networks will connect everyone and everything in the future. AI can reduce the cost of network operation and improve the performance of networks. 2) AI can be introduced into fin-tech and narrow the information gap between the stock market and the investors, which can reduce lots of traditional meaningless work in the financial industry and can benefit the economy. Thus, learning AI must be a good choice for me.

What do you like most about KTH?

The majestic historical buildings and beautiful campus view. I feel happy and comfortable every time I come to KTH, and I believe that it makes me more efficient in studying and finishing my assignments.

What are your impressions of Stockholm and Sweden?

Stockholm is a wonderful combination of modern and history, nature, and technology. There are not only beautiful gardens, lakes, and woods all around the city, but there are also many leading high-tech companies here. And Stockholm is a place where people can experience the balance of nature, which means that after we enjoy the lovely summer, we have to face the dark, cold, windy, and snowing winter. However, truthfully speaking, I like the winter here.

What is your best memory from your time at KTH so far?

It would be the moment I got an intern position at a technical company at Kista. The position requires AI knowledge and deep learning coding experience, which is exactly what I learned and practiced at KTH. In the past months, I was working with a few engineers in the company and have finished the main part of the project. I like my intern work very much because I gain both payment and the happiness of applying machine learning theory in practice.

Are there any differences between studying at KTH and your home university?

My home university emphasises more on lectures and examinations, and each course lasts as long as half a year. At KTH, assignments and group projects that require long-term teamwork carry more weight, so the students are given more chances to apply the knowledge they learn from lectures.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for their master's studies?

KTH is a good university where you can learn lots of useful knowledge and skills, the same as my friend told me, and I really agree with him.

What do you see as the most significant aspects of your programme?

In my opinion, machine learning is not only a kind of technical knowledge, but also a powerful way of thinking. It’s amazing that we can think about our lives and the world in a “machine learning” way, and get lots of inspiration.

Are you taking part in any student activities?

I became a member of KTH AI Society , which is an interesting organisation created by a group of KTH students. KTH AI Society aims to share knowledge of the latest innovations in the field of AI with KTH students and other interested parties. I took part in a few interesting projects with other members and enjoyed the experience there.

What dreams do you have for the future?

Becoming an AI expert and developing a popular AI product that can benefit the world.
