Media Management at KTH
The master's programme in Media Management focuses on the development and commercial operation of media products and services aimed at the consumer market. The programme consists of courses offering relevant knowledge regarding media technology, product development, media innovation, intercultural communication, market understanding and enterprise management in the media industry and related fields. During the two years, all students follow a programme-integrating course that ties the programme together, covers cross-course topics and provides contact with the industry. The final term is devoted to the degree project, which is focused on using scientific methods to solve a problem within the scope of the programme. The project may originate from an industrial problem or be suggested by one of the research groups at the relevant departments.
The programme is organised around two main areas. One area consists of technical courses on media production including video, print, web and interactive media. The other area focuses on management, including courses given by the School of Industrial Engineering and Management (KTH) and Stockholm School of Economics, typically in the form of project work. The programme is highly international, with students and faculty coming from all over the world.
This is a two year programme (120 ECTS credits) given in English. Graduates are awarded the degree of Master of Science. The programme is given mainly at KTH Campus in Stockholm by the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Sustainable development
Graduates from KTH have the knowledge and tools for moving society in a more sustainable direction, as sustainable development is an integral part of all programmes. In all mandatory courses in the master’s programme Media Management, UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are covered in different ways. The three key SDGs addressed by the master's programme in Media Management are:

The master’s programme in Media Management addresses questions of sustainability from several angles. Since the most efficient way in which to work for sustainability is in and through organisations and institutions, the programme focuses on social sustainability and gender equality through courses on Media Production and Intercultural Communication. The course Media Law introduces students to environmentally responsible marketing policies, and also how to use contracts as a tool to ensure sustainability. In courses on business practices, students learn about the role of externalities (such as air) for climate change. Also, more theoretical courses, such as Theory and Method for Media Technology, address sustainability in the way we learn to relate to the natural world.
In addition to the mandatorcourses, students are strongly recommended to deepen their understanding of intercultural communication and management by taking the courses Leadership in Cross-Cultural and Industrial Contexts (6 ECTS credits) and Leadership and Power in Industrial Organisations: Perspectives of Gender and Diversity (6 ECTS credits). Another recommended elective course that develops students’ understanding and knowledge of social sustainability is the course Social Entrepreneurship (7.5 ECTS credits). To improve students’ understanding on how media and ICT affect the climate, students are also recommended to take the course Sustainability and Media Technology (7.5 ECTS credits), and they can deepen their knowledge through the course Sustainable ICT in Practice (7.5 ECTS credits). In addition to the courses mentioned above, sustainability is a strong theme in project work in many courses given as part of the programme. For instance, a majority of the projects in the Advanced Project Course in Media Management (7.5 ECTS credits) are typically related to one or more of the SDGs, as are degree project topics.
