Structure of education at KTH

Studies on university level in Sweden are divided into three levels. The first three years of university studies is carried out on Bachelor's level (first cycle). These are followed by one or two years on Master's level (second cycle) and then four years on Doctoral/PhD level (third cycle). KTH offers education within all three levels.

Bachelor's programmes

Programmes on Bachelor's level at KTH are generally offered in Swedish and knowledge in the Swedish language is necessary in order to be admitted, except for one Bachelor's programme which is taught in English.

Programmes on Master's level at KTH are generally offered in English and knowledge in the English language is necessary in order to be admitted.

Master of Science in Engineering programmes

Master of science in engineering is a Swedish professional degree. The first three years are given in Swedish and knowledge in the Swedish language is necessary in order to be admitted to the full five-year programme. The two last years are generally given in English and offered as separate Master's programmes.
