Innovative Nanomaterials for Macroscopic Adhesion

Project description

This project aims to improve the wet and dry strength of fibre joints by employing charged polymeric components and cellulose nanomaterials. By using self-assembly to create micelles from tri-block copolymers we can incorporate polymeric components with varying properties such as charge, glass transition temperature and molecular weight. Assembling these components using layer-by-layer (LbL) deposition we can create nanometer thick supramolecular films to investigate and potentially tune adhesive properties.
