Solubility and adsorption of wood biopolymers at model surfaces     

Project description 

The project is aimed at creating fundamental understanding of the factors controlling the solubility of wood polymers in aqueous solution and how the solubility will affect the adsorption of these polymers at model surfaces of cellulose. This is vital in order to optimize the composition of fiber reinforced composites consisting of natural polymers. A fundamental understanding of these interactions is furthermore crucial for allowing leaching of wood biopolymers from non-delignified fibers in the modern biorefinery where the wood biopolymers are supposed to be used as raw materials in advanced products.
