Researcher from WCPT in Mentor4Research programme
During 2015, researcher Josefin Illergård has been participating in the IVA mentor programme Mentor4Research that aims at acting as a catlyst for the commercialisation of research. The national final meeting was held in November 2015. Read more from the final here .
SPCI autumn meeting 2015
The department of Wood Chemistry and Pulp Technology arranged a monter at the SPCI autumn meeting 2015, a meeting for the pulp and paper industry. In the monter, the visitors got a chance to take part of the research performed at KTH in a photo exhibition and by demonstrators for new materials.
PhD student Jonatan Henschen demonstrated antibacterial paper for the former Finance Minister Anders Borg at SPCI Pulp&Paper Conference at Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre.
On 13th November 2015, Danila Morais de Carvalho defended her Licentiate thesis(Study on the structure and properties of xylan extracted from eucalyptus, sugarcane bagasse and sugarcane straw). Congratulations!
CELLULOSE MATERIALS DOCTORAL STUDENTS SUMMER CONFERENCE 2015
On August 26 - 28 August 2015, several members from our group took part in the 2015 Cellulose Materials Doctoral Students Summer Conference in Autrans, France. This was an excellent opportunity to network with other researchers which gave many new contacts.
Seminar: Highlights from ongoing EPNOE research
On 18 August, Dr. Patrick Navard, coordinator of EPNOEEPNOE (European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence), introduced their academic activities in terms of biomass plastic composite. We also got to listen to very interesting work on aerogels by Dr Tatiana Budtova from MINES ParisTech.
Our division visited by Beijing Institute of Technology
On 22 June, Beijing Institute of Technology, a famous university in China, visited our division and explored the possibilities to cooperate and exchange students.
Seminar: Next-generation consolidants for archaeological wood conservation
On 15 June, Dr. Zarah Walsh(researcher of Forest Biomaterials, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität,Freiburg) made a presentation about innovative research in terms of promising alternatives as next-generation consolidants for archaeological wood conservation.
New doctors and Licentiana
In June, we have two PhD students(Dongfang Li and Yadong Zhao) that finished their doctoral degree. Besides, Daniel Tavast finished his Licentiate thesis defence .

Yadong Zhao: Towards large scale and feasible exploitation of tunicate cellulose and cellulose nanocrystals for different applications
Daniel Tavast: Improved Usage of Wood Raw Material through Modification of the Kraft Process
