Magnetic measurements

Magnetometers, a thermogravimetric balance and a highly sensitive alternating field magnetic susceptometer make up a complete magnetic measuring instrumentation at the lab.

Magnetometer

We have magnetometers for measurement of magnetic moment vs magnetic field over a field range up to 1T. One of them, a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), operate from room temperature up to +700C with a sample furnace. Another magnetometer - a Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) - goes from liquid helium temperature up to room temperature.

We have also a thermogravimetric balance with a magnetic field accessory, which makes it suitable for the determination of Curie points.

There is also a highly sensitive Alternating Field magnetic susceptometer, which measures the field strength and frequency dependence of the magnetic susceptibility at temperatures from the liquid helium range up to room temperature.
