In connection with International Women’s Day, InspireLab and Digital Futures are happy to introduce innovative research projects, exploring inclusion through technology and design. The event starts at 08:15, we serve breakfeast from 07:45.

Sailing Towards Inclusion: A Gender-Conscious Review of Olympic Sailing Classes is a project focusing on how athlete sailing can become more gender inclusive through engineering and design, as well as new boat classification. The project has important implications not only for sailing, but also for the broader fields of inclusive engineering, design, and sports.

The project is funded by InspireLab and led by Laura Marimon Giovannetti, PhD in Technology and affiliated researcher at Marine Systems, SCI School, KTH. Her confirmed membership in World Sailing’s Equipment Committee and lead position in the Brisbane 2032 Events Working Group, provide a unique platform to translate research into policy.
