Prof. Hideaki Ishii from Tokyo Institute of Technology will give us a talk during our NetCon meeting on Monday (Nov 8) 16:00-17:00.
The seminar will be held in hybrid mode at Harry Nyquist meeting room and via Zoom (https://kth-se.zoom.us/j/4951295301).

Title: Resilience in Multi-Agent Consensus under Attacks

Abstract: In this talk, we present consensus problems for multi-agent systems

in hostile environments and their analyses on the resiliency against

cyber attacks. First, we discuss a class of data injection attacks by

focusing on the approach based on the so-called mean subsequence reduced

(MSR) algorithms, which originated in computer science. Agents equipped

with such algorithms will ignore their neighbors taking extreme state

values. Characterizations on the properties necessary for

network topologies and moreover a number of extensions with enhanced

resiliency will be discussed. As the second class of attacks, the effects

of denial-of-service (DoS) attacks will be examined in the context of

multi-agent consensus from the game theoretic viewpoint. The attacker

attempts to disable channels to disconnect the network while the

defender recovers some or all of the attacked channels. By imposing

energy constraints for both players, we characterize the optimal strategies

for the attacker and the defender in terms of edge connectivity

and the number of connected components of the graph.

Bio: Hideaki Ishii received the M.Eng. degree from Kyoto University

in 1998, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Toronto

in 2002. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University

of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2001 to 2004, and
