GRAN PLATOONO - A Platooning Demonstration Game
Two computer games have been developed to demonstrate platooning of trucks as well as the driver-vehicle interaction that is necessary when switching between human steering and computer steering of trucks. Both of the games are called GRAN PLATOONO.
The goal of both games is to make the player save fuel by driving closely behind other trucks to reduce air drag. This technique is called platooning. When platooning, the player is rewarded more score points. The main difference between the games is the method of visualizing the game environment.
One of the games was developed with help of the PreScan simulation tool. This tool has been used for visualization of trucks and environment.
The other game uses the Qualisys tracking system of the Smart Mobility Lab in conjunction with small RC truck models. The game environment consists of the physical trucks as well as a road projected on the floor.
