The new members, representing different science areas were announced on May 24. In all, the academy now has 40 members. In addition to prof. Oberhammer, three of the members are from KTH: Danica Kragic Jensfelt, Erik Lindahl and Helene Andersson-Svahn.

The Young Academy of Sweden was founded in May 2011 at the initiative of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences to function as a cross-disciplinary forum and to produce a scientific political platform for young scientists in Sweden.

Joachim Oberhammer works with microwave microsystems. He has recently received grants from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and European Research Council for advancing the research field of radio-frequency micro-electromechanical systems (RF MEMS) beyond 100 GHz, to millimetre, sub-millimetre, and even THz frequencies.
