Hans Oude Groeniger: Blowup for small powers of nonlinear wave equations

I shall sketch the proof of an old but nice result by John on the blowup of solutions to some rather simple non-linear wave equations on flat space.

After recalling some of the basic theory on linear waves I shall outline how the forcing term creates a feedback loop, leading to the conclusion that even for smooth, small and compactly supported data we have blowup in finite time.
