Abstract: In this thesis Lindemann-Weierstrass theorem will be discussed. The theorem, its proof and some of its consequences will be explained. Lindemann-Weierstrass theorem is in transcendental number theory useful to determine if some numbers are transcendental. One of the consequences of this result is that the classical constants pi and e are transcendental. The purpose with this thesis is to explain the theorem, the proof and the consequences in such a way that it could be easily understood by a reader who studied mathematics about one year at a university level. This will be done by explaining the background knowledge needed to understand the theorem and go through the lemmas needed for the proof of the theorem.
