Harry Petyt: Large-scale geometry of mapping class groups
Time: Wed 2022-02-16 13.15 - 14.15
Participating: Harry Petyt (University of Bristol)
Mapping class groups have been a motivating example in topology and infinite group theory since Dehn. In recent years and with the advent of geometric group theory, there has been a lot of effort to understand what kind of nonpositive curvature properties they have. This talk will describe some of the background to these efforts and discuss some recent results.
