Last time, I introduced Bianchi spacetimes (the Cauchy developments of initial data on a 3-dimensional Lie group), as well as the the orthonormal frame approach. In this talk, I will continue and introduce expansion-normalized variables of Wainwright-Hsu, and will consider the behaviour of the initial singularity of Bianchi spacetimes with perfect fluid matter for the lower Bianchi types, in particular type VI_0. In particular, we shall see that generically the nature of the initial singularity of Bianchi type VI_0 spacetimes is vacuum-dominated, anisotropic and silent.
