Abstract

Cohomology can be viewed as a way to extract algebraic information (groups, vector spaces, ...) from something that one might feel less comfortable with (topological spaces, algebraic varieties, ...). I will talk about cohomology of algebraic varieties, and compact support cohomology in particular.
