June Huh: Göran Gustafsson Symposium in mathematics, May 30–June 1, 2022
Göran Gustafsson lectures 2022
Time: Mon 2022-05-30 10.00 - Wed 2022-06-01 17.00
Location: KTH (Oskar Klein) and Mittag-Leffler (Kuskvillan)
Participating: June Huh (Princeton University)
The Göran Gustafsson lectures 2022 are given by June Huh who will give a series of three lectures. The first lecture is at KTH (Albanova, Oskar Klein auditorium, May 30, 10 am, coffee from 9:30) and intended for a general audience. The second and third lectures are at Institut Mittag-Leffler. There is also a Göran Gustafsson symposium with a series of research talks at Mittag-Leffler.
The first lecture by June Huh is on Lorentzian polynomials:
Lorentzian polynomials link continuous convex analysis and discrete convex analysis via tropical geometry. The tropical connection is used to produce Lorentzian polynomials from discrete convex functions. The talk will be accessible to a general audience: No specific background beyond linear algebra and multivariable calculus are required for most of the presentation.
