Gebrenegus Ghilagaber: Statistical Models and Methods in Demographic Research: An Overview of Methodological Contributions at the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Population Association of America (PAA)

Time: Wed 2019-04-03 13.00 - 14.00

Location: Room B705, Department of Statistics, Stockholm University

Lecturer: Gebrenegus Ghilagaber, Department of Statistics

Abstract: In this seminar I intend to:

  • give an overview on how modern statistical models and methods are being used to address demographic issues - by way of examples of methodological contributions at the 2019 PAA Meeting, and
  • present preliminary results from my two contributions at the meeting:
    • results from Dynamic Modelling of the effects of education on divorce risks (joint work with Parfait Munezero) and
    • results from Diagonal Reference Modelling (DRM) of the effects of educational differences among couples on health-care utilization among women

If time-allows, I may also present some results from an on-going work on Bayesian Discrete-time Modelling of Environmental Recidivism Data.
