Abstract: In acoustics, it is common to model point sources by singular source terms. To obtain convergence when discretizing hyperbolic initial boundary value problems, the discrete counterpart of the singular sources must fulfill a set of conditions. If the conditions are violated, the source will trigger spurious oscillations in the numerical solution. In the case of a stationary source, it is well known how to construct a source discretization that fulfills the necessary conditions. However, if the source moves in the domain, the constraints change. In this talk, I will present a method for constructing high-order accurate discretizations of non-stationary singular source terms. Further, I will discuss implementational aspects and show numerical experiments that verify the theoretical convergence rates.
