The emerging vehicular applications demand for a lot more computing and communication capacity to excel in their compute-intensive and latency-sensitive tasks. Vehicular fog computing is an emerging computing paradigm where computing resources are moved to vehicles or network infrastructure close to vehicles for shortening network latency and reducing ingress traffic to the cloud. In this talk, we will introduce the ongoing work at the mobile cloud computing group of Aalto University (mobilecloud.aalto.fi), covering fog-powered vehicular applications like vision-based mapping and localization, deployment of fog nodes in 5G networks, and data-driven resource and capacity planning for vehicular fog computing.

TECoSA hosts a guest speaker on the first Thursday of each month during term time. The seminars are free and all are welcome to attend. This Autumn, all seminars take place via Zoom. Please see the TECoSA Seminar Series homepage for details! www.tecosa.center.kth.se/tecosa-seminar-series/
