Jonas Mårtensson, KTH:

"Collaborative freight transport and truck platooning"

One of the promising applications of vehicle automation is truck platooning, which has been proposed as a way to reduce fuel consumption of long-distance goods transports. The automotive industry is currently working on standardization and interoperability between the different truck brands and several pilots on public roads are planned. There is also a huge potential for cooperation between transport operators to make the whole logistic chain more efficient and sustainable. But there are still many challenges for how to operate multi-brand and multi-operator truck platoons. This presentation will address those challenges and some of their solutions will be revealed.

Anna Pernestål, KTH:

”Impacts of driverless vehicles”

There are visions that we all will cruise around in driverless taxis in the future, with no need for parking in the cities. But there is also a risk that driverless vehicles lead to more transport and take the society in a direction contrary to the sustainability goals. What are the expected impacts of driverless vehicles on the transport system and the society?

Naveenraj Vijayan, Scania:

"On the road to Autonomous Vehicles”

Autonomous vehicles will radically change the transport system in the not too distant future and once scalable pave the way to a smarter, greener and safer planet. Autonomous Transport Solutions (ATS) Pre-Development & Research at Scania is responsible for developing future frontier ATS concepts. The industry and academia have come a long way in enabling autonomous vehicles to effectively perceive, learn, and navigate through complex environments. However “scaling up” of autonomous transport solutions impose specific demands and challenges; this presentation will highlight some of those challenges.
