New book on Sámi educational history published

PhD Otso Kortekangas who works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment is the main editor of a new book on Sámi educational history, recently published by Palgrave MacMillan.

The book “Sámi Educational History in a Comparative International Perspective” is available both as an e-book and as a hardcover. The book includes seventeen research articles and:

• Establishes an overview of Sámi education in a historical and internationally comparative perspective
• Examines indigenous educational history around the world, ranging from Asia to Oceania to Sápmi and the Americas
• Situates Sámi school history within an international context of indigenous and minority education
