The ESEH Dissertation Prize to Daniele Valisena
Between July 8 and 9 the ESEH 2021 Digital Meeting was held. It offered a series of online environmental history events around the 11th ESEH's Ordinary General Meeting. On the Friday The ESEH Dissertation Prize Winner was announced, and we are proud to share that it was our former doctoral student Daniele Valisena, who won the prize for his dissertation.
The prize, also called the Tallinn Prize, "aims at supporting early career scholars based in Europe or based outside Europe but working on a European topic". This round of the prize covered dissertations defended in the years 2019-2020. Daniele's dissertation was selected among 29 nominations submitted from universities in 17 countries. Among the selection criteria were originality of research topic and innovative methodologies. More information can be found here.
In June 2020, Daniele successfully defended his dissertation entitled: Coal Lives: Italians and the Metabolism of Coal in Wallonia, Belgium, 1945-1980 (2020) .
