The Thuréus Prize to Sverker Sörlin
The Royal Society of Sciences at Uppsala awards Sverker Sörlin the Thuréus Prize on November 23. He receives the prize in the historical-archeological class for "outstanding contributions as a pioneer in environmental history, or "environmental humanities", in Sweden and internationally, and for his extensive work as a research policy writer and debater "
The Royal Society of Sciences at Uppsala is Sweden’s oldest learned society, founded in 1710. The academy supports, among other things, high quality Swedish research by awarding prizes and rewards to outstanding researchers. The Thuréus Prize originates in a donation by the late doctor and Uppsala student Sven Thuréus, through the formation of Lilly and Sven Thuréus' fund for Nature and Culture.
Earlier this fall, Sverker was awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences' (IVA) Grand Gold Medal for his outstanding achievements: Sverker Sörlin awarded IVA's Grand Gold Medal
