Philosophical Tools for Real-World Problems – Reflections on Sven Ove Hansson’s Style of Philosophizing
The Division of Philosophy at KTH is one of the main research hubs in Europe focusing on philosophical issues that are relevant for technology development and implementation. This two-day seminar puts focus on the real-world challenges that philosophers aim to address and the methods they use as part of this endeavor: What real-world problems are philosophers trying to solve, and how can research in disciplines such as philosophy of risk, logic, decision theory and ethics contribute to creating a better society?
At the occasion of Sven Ove Hansson’s professional retirement, we are calling together a number of his colleagues and coauthors, who share the outlook and style of philosophy that characterizes Sven Ove’s work, and by extension the kind of philosophy done at KTH’s philosophy department.
