Youssef Almulla is Ph.D. candidate at the division of Energy System Analysis (KTH-dESA). His research area focusses on implementing the Climate, Land-use, Energy and water strategies (CLEWs) to inform and motivate transboundary cooperation as well as to achieve sustainable energy and water management. Under the United Nations Economics Commission for Europe (UNECE) nexus framework, he worked on the development of the nexus assessment for the Drina River Basin and the North Western Sahara Aquifer System (NWSAS). Moreover, he is contributing to the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) project in collaboration with Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI) to support the implementation of the 2030 agenda in the NENA region countries.
In his Master thesis, Youssef developed an energy road map for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for electricity generation and water desalination using MESSAGE modelling framework from IAEA and IIASA. Youssef holds Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (UAEU) and MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering (KTH).
