About me
Research
Fossil fuels are limited resources that often have to be imported from non-democratic countries and therefore sustainable, locally available alternatives are needed. Because today almost all plastics are produced from fossil fuels we at the McKee lab aim at developing new materials from sustainable resources like waste material from the local wood industry.
In a project funded by the Wallenberg wood science center I am exploring if suberin/cutin derived compounds can be modified enzymatically and subsequently polymerized to yield bio-based thermoplasts.
