Om mig

I received the Diploma (M. Sc equivalent) and the M.Sc. (Licenciate equivalent) degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Democritus University of Thrace Xanthi, Greece in 2008 and 2012 respectively. In both degrees I have chosen specialization of Telecommunications and Space with emphasis in microwave and antenna engineering. During 2010-2011 I fulfilled my military service as an officer in the Greek army in the corps of research and informatics. I was discharged with the rank of second lieutenant. In 2012, I joint the department of Electromagnetic Engineering at KTH Royal Institute of Technology for my PhD studies working with my supervisor is Professor Lars Jonsson to develop a new class of antenna arrays suitable for future base stations.

I was always fascinated with the field of telecommunications and electromagnetics and I have been working in various projects since I first started the university studies. My main research topics are antenna design optimization, microwave engineering, antenna arrays, beamforming networks, high frequency measurements and wireless energy harvesting.

During February till May 2017 I was in a reserach visit in Cambridge University in UK at the Cavendish Lab. During this time I worked on Radio Astronomy and particularly for 21cm Cosmology. We developed designs and post processing alogorithms to probe for the global Epoch of Reionization signal.

I was the recipient of the best student paper award in 2008 at the Mediterranean Microwave Symposium and in 2014 at the Progress in Electromagnetic Research Symposium. I was also the team mentor and project leader of the team that won the first prize in 2016 IEEE AP-S student antenna design competition for the project entitled “Wireless Sensor Network Utilizing RF Energy Harvesting for Smart Building Applications.”
