About me

Jana Sochor holds a Ph.D. in Transport Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden (2013), after which she completed a postdoc at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden and went on to work as a (senior) researcher at Chalmers and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.  Now back at KTH, Jana is currently working as a "researcher in sustainable mobility".

Jana's research interests include understanding end users’ perceptions, motives, and behaviors as related to mobility and accessibility services (personal and goods), so as to improve service design and development, adoption, and effect.  She approaches mobility from a systems perspective, attempting to understand users’ behaviors and choices relative to the larger contexts in which they are made, e.g. the household (the user as an individual, family member, employee, etc.), the service offer and business model (service provider perspective), the geographic/physical preconditions, and the societal, legal and regulatory environment (city, regional, national perspective). Jana’s research shows how better alignment is needed among service offers, public policies, etc. (and their related stakeholders) so as to constructively meet users’ needs while positively impacting users’ options and choices in a more sustainable manner.

Jana serves as a member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committee on the Effects of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on Travel Choices (AEP35), and she also contributes to the MaaS Alliance and the SAE Shared and Digital Mobility Committee. She has previously served two appointments as a member of the TRB Standing Committee on Innovative Public Transport Services and Technologies (AP020) from 2016 to 2022, as well as two appointments as a member of the former Task Force on Data Privacy, Security and Protection Policy (ABJ55T) from 2016 to 2020, after which it became the Subcommittee on Privacy under the Standing Committee on Data for Decision Making (AJE70). The Transportation Research Board is part of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in the U.S.
