Yury Kucheev

Dr. Yury Kucheev is a researcher at the Department of Industrial Economics and Management. Yury’s research is funded by the Jan Wallander and Tom Hedelius Foundation. He investigates the performance measurements in financial industry, focusing on the impact of MiFID II legislation and functions that financial analysts play on the market as well as on performance of active fund managers.

Yury holds a PhD (2017, cum laude) from both KTH in Sweden and Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in Spain under a double-degree program funded by the European Commission. He obtained a Master of Science in Solid State Physics (2009) and a PhD in Physics (2012) from the National University of Science and Technology “MISIS”, Moscow, Russia. For the past 11 consecutive years, Yury has performed research at leading multinational research centers in Russia, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, and US. He was a visiting associate at RCC Harvard in fall 2018 and a visiting scholar at SCANCOR-Weatherhead Partnership at Harvard University in fall 2019.

Research Interests: Investments; Markets in Financial Instruments Directive legislation (MiFID II); Role and value of analysts' research; Performance measurements in the financial industry; Star rankings of analysts and fund managers; and active mutual funds.
