About me

1. Education

  • B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India (2003-07).
  • M.Sc in Sound and Vibration from KTH Stockholm (2007-09).
  • Pursuing PhD in friction damping of power turbine blades (2013- till date): Predicting response of dynamic structures that have contacts often requires detailed knowledge of friction interface parameters. The tangential forces that develop between contacting surfaces not only resist relative motion, but also affect resonance frequencies and response amplitudes. Structures such as gas turbine blades that operate under periodically fluctuating excitation forces often do not benefit significantly from damping mechanisms such as material hysteresis and aerodynamic damping. In such cases, friction may be the only source of significant damping. Friction damping that develops during oscillatory relative motion is usually characterized by hysteresis cycles that show how tangential force changes with relative displacement. The aim of this project is to accurately capture the contact motion and predict the resulting nonlinear response on the turbine blade structure.

2. Industrial experience @ Wärtsila Finland OY (2009-13)

  • Worked as a vibration & acoustic engineer on large four stroke diesel engine.
