About me
Xikun Hu is a PhD candidate at the Department of Urban Planning and Environment at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He has a research background in Geomatics, Remote Sensing (SAR, Optical) and in Computer Vision. Main research activities:
Earth Observation & Remote Sensing
Models and algorithms for processing optical and radar high-resolution satellite imagery using different techniques. Time series analysis and big data cubes exploitation using cloud-based technology (i.e Google Earth Engine, Google Cloud Platform). Active fire detection using Sentinel-2 data.
Earth System Science
Land use and forest modeling including forest disturbances with particular emphasis on the modeling of European, USA (i.e. California), Canada (i.e. BC), and global forest and wildland fires.
Deep Learning & Computer Vision
Remote sensing applications based on deep learning (e.g. ANN, CNN, RNN). Specifically for the burnt area segmentation based on Unet. Wildfire burnt area modeling for Indonesia using ANN.
