SE2123 Testing Techniques in Solid Mechanics
(Hållfasthetsteknisk provning):
During the spring term from 2008 to 2011 I have developed and taught the advanced undergraduate course SE2123 Testing Techniques in Solid Mechanics. The development includes extending the new course compendium.

From 2003 to 2008 and restarting again from 2011 I have annually taught one of the basic undergraduate courses in solid mechanics. In the autumns from 2011 to 2014 I had SE1010 for Mechanical engineering. In 2011 to 2013 the sessions included SE1020 for Materials Design and engineering. From spring 2016 I have swiched courses and teach SE1055 for Engineering Physics.

Post doctorate projects

Selcuk Hazar, PhD

Dr Hazar performs research on creep rupture in a high strength steel. The project started in July 2015. The work is funded by SKF ERC in The Netherlands.

Erik Olsson, PhD

Dr Olsson was active in the project "Virtual design procedure of material structure for optimal fatigue resistance of highly loaded applications". The project started in autumn 2014 and continued for 2 years to autumn 2016. It was a co-operation with Scania and with funding from the Vinnova program on Material based competitiveness.

Supervised graduate students

Erland Nordin

Erland Nordin's graduate studies are ongoing. The work comprises surface strength in gears with focus on damage limiting arrangements at manufacturing and design. Erland is an industrial graduate student employed by Scania.

Michal Sedlak

Michal and I started the work on mechanical modelling of stress corrosion cracking in fall 2012. The work is funded by the Swedish Centre for Nuclear Technology (SKC).

Carl-Magnus Everitt

Carl-Magnus started his PhD studies in May 2014 on the project A coupled fluid and solid mechanics analyis of the asymmetric rolling contact fatigue damage process. The work is funded by the Swedish Reseach Council, a popular scientific description is available on their web-page . Carl-Magnus presented his licentiate thesis on March 14 2018.

André Tengstrand

André started his PhD studies in August 2017 on the project Failure risk of NPP components due to LSY crack propagation in environment at transient thermal loads. The work is funded by the Swedish Centre for Nuclear Technology (SKC) and The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM).

Irene Linares Arregui

Irene Linares Arregui defended her PhD thesis on April 21, 2015. The thesis titel is Mechanical behaviour of a roller bearing steel: Strength differential effect, low temperature creep and propagation of short cracks. Former Professor Nils-Gunnar Ohlson from Uppsala University served as the faculty opponent. The work was performed in co-operation with and funded by SKF ERC in The Netherlands. Dave Hannes

Dave Hannes defended his PhD thesis on February 20, 2014. The title of the thesis is On fatigue crack growth modelling of surface initiated rolling contact fatigue using the asperity point load mechanism. Faculty opponent was Professor Sylvie Pommier, Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, France. The work was funded by The Swedish Research Council. Dave Hannes disputation.

Pär Ljustell

Pär Ljustell defended his PhD thesis on February 1, 2013. The title of the thesis is Fatigue crack growth experiments and analyses - from small scale yielding to large scale yielding at constant and variable amplitude loading. Faculty opponent was Professor Gunnar Härkegård from NTNU in Trondheim. The work was funded by The Swedish Energy Agency and The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. Pär Ljustell's dissertation.

Johan Dahlberg

Johan Dahlberg recieved his PhD on December 17, 2007. The titel of the thesis is On the asperity point load mechanism for rolling contact fatigue. Faculty opponent was Professor Sören Sjöström from Linköping University. The work was funded by The Swedish Research Council.

Alessandro Cadario

Alessandro Cadario recieved his PhD on December 6, 2006. The titel of the thesis is Life prediction and mechanisms for the initiation and growth of short cracks under fretting fatigue loading. Faculty opponent was Professor David Novell from Oxford University. The work was performed in co-operation with Volvo Aero with funding from The Swedish Energy Agency and the The Swedish Research Council.
