The Government of West Bengal, the Department of Panchayats & Rural Development and Public Health Engineering in collaboration with UNICEF is working closely to improve quality and arsenic free water in the state. The state government signed MOU with UNICEF, KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden alongwith IIT – Kharagpur through MOU in the presence of Mr. Subrata Mukherjee, Hon. Minister – in – Charge , Public Health Engineering Department, GoWB.

The state government signed MOU with UNICEF, KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden alongwith IIT – Kharagpur through MOU in the presence of Mr. Subrata Mukherjee
The minister also said “International chain is required for making the effort successful.  Awareness campaignis also necessary, the necessity of which has also been felt by the task force. We also like to mark the affected ones so that it becomes to identify the contaminated ones.”
He added the state government is working to make Vision 2020 successful so that water free from fluoride, arsenic and iron could be supplied in every part of the state.

The state government , PHED  is planning to built a new plant for arsenic free water supply. Mr. Subrata Mukherjee, Hon. Minister – in – Charge , Public Health Engineering Department, GoWB also stated “the state government is making partnership with UNICEF, KTH – Royal Institute of Technology alongwith IIT – Kharagpur through a MOU to mitigate arsenic problem.”
He also informed “Nine and half bighas land have been allotted in Pailan by the state government for creating an institute of international standard to work on the quality of the water.”
