The Environmental Management and Assessment (EMA) research group comprises a multi-disciplinary group of scientists working together to promote a sustainable use of the environment. Projects within the EMA research group range from participatory catchment management to producing transboundary GIS datasets for the management of water resources, as well as development of methods and tools for biodiversity-inclusive environmental assessment. The research is developed in the interface between science, technology and society, for a better integration of scientific knowledge in societal institutions. The aim is to analyse interacting systems for targeting solutions that promote a long-term sustainable development.
Research areas of interest comprise of, among others, urban landscapes and futures, energy systems and environmental assessment, water resources management and decision support tools as well as spatial and environmental systems analysis tools. Information on research areas and ongoing research projects are available in the left margin, as well as a selection of earlier research projects.
