The SimulAir  team has just raised 5 million SEK in investment, and are getting ready to move in to their new office on Södermalm.

Maja Åstrand’s experience of having to sleep together with the bed bugs in her dorm led to the idea for a machine that mimics human presence to lure and trap bed bugs.

Together with Simon, a fellow KTH master’s student she built the first prototype as part of their thesis in mechatronics. In 2022, the team reached out to KTH Innovation. Later, they found their third co-founder Sandra Vahdani.

Today, they have a patented solution that can trap bed bugs twice as fast as traditional methods, ensuring an effective solution without the need for human bait.

Hear Maja Åstrand share the story of going from a project in a mechatronics course, to joining KTH Innovation Launch , winning pitch competitions all over Sweden, building the team and securing investment.

Lunch for the first 50 participants.
