Course contents
Intended learning outcomes
The course covers wireless sensor networks especially body sensor networks for applications in healthcare and sports. After completing the course the students shall be able to
- Describe and explain radio standards and communication protocols on the link and networking layers for wireless personal area networks, and inter-working with wireless local area networks and cellular networks
- Describe and explain the function and use of sensors especially for medical and sports applications
- Describe and explain operating systems and programming languages for wireless sensor nodes
- Be familiar with architectures, functions and performance of wireless sensor networks systems and platforms
- Describe and analyse the specific requirements for applications in wireless sensor networks regarding energy supply, memory, processing and transmission capacity
- Program wireless sensor network nodes.

Specific prerequisites
Communication networks I and II, Wireless networks or equivalent courses. Basic programming skills and knowledge about operating systems is also required.
