Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

·      The methodology of the professional lighting design process related to heritage buildings conditions with specified aesthetic and architectural requirements

·      Studies of the interaction of material, surfaces and spaces related to the lighting

·      Visual perceptual conditions in relation to preserving requirements

·      Technical conditions, light sources, luminaries and control system

·      Sustainability and energy conservation strategies

·      Realization of lighting concepts in co-operation with the other involved professionals.

Intended learning outcomes

·         To ensure that the student possesses the required knowledge of lighting design related to the special conditions of heritage buildings and environments.

·         The connection between the characteristics of the historical buildings architectural elements and the quality of the light.

·         Understanding of the technical demands possibilities and limitations related to heritage buildings and environments

·         To be aware of and train aesthetic and functional demands in classic buildings and also giving new influences for lighting design in current buildings
