Functional Testing of the MIST Satellite

The MIST satellite is a 3U CubeSat being developed at KTH, with a large part of the work being conducted by student teams. In this thesis methods for the testing the MIST satellite are proposed, some of the proposed methods are implemented and evaluated. Two pieces of testing hardware are proposed, implemented and evaluated. One of the hardware units is an experiment simulator that emulates the electrical load of an experiment subsystem. The second hardware unit is a sun sensor simulator that can feed the satellite artificial position data by simulating the current output of the satellite's sun sensors. A method for creating automated test and checkout procedures in a distributed testing environment using modern web-development tools is proposed. This method is demonstrated by showing how it is used to verify the operation of the experiment simulators.
