Urban mobility is one of the major societal challenges in order to achieve a sustainable society. This course is based on a challenge-driven pedagogy, i.e. you will work with a real project in urban mobility. The course presents theories, methods and work models that you will then apply. Areas to be integrated are: strategy models, stakeholder analysis, business models, and project management. The work takes place in an interdisciplinary student group where the challenge is how new technology will enable a sustainable futrure.

Course contents

  • Market analysis and modelling.
  • Project management and planning, especially project portfolios and project networks.
  • Stakeholder and risk analysis.
  • Change management.
  • Systematic innovation methods.
  • Impact assessments.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should, with a focus on technical and other solutions in the area of urban mobility, be able to:

1. Assess, evaluate and improve existing plans and solutions based on established specifications and evaluate possible obstacles for successful implementation,

2. Analyse proposed measures from a multidimensional stakeholder perspective including citizens and end users, and political, regulatory, economic, integrity and safety, and sustainability perspectives,

3. Plan marketing and sales of projects with several stakeholders in a complex environment,

4. Formulate personal development goals and reflect on one's own performance and personal development and evaluate the usability of acquired theories, methods and processes in a practical context,

5. Prepare a professional report including supplementary presentation materials, based on completed analyses and studies.

English B/English 6, or the equivalent

Fulfilled the requirements for Degree of Bachelor of Science.

And either of:

· AG2301 Traffic Data Collection and Analysis (short course)

· MF2098 Design Methodology in Urban Mobility,

· ME2751 Challenge-driven Project in Urban Mobility, part 1,

or,

· 6 higher education credits in basic industrial engineering and management or in business administration,

· 6 higher education credits project management.

Examination and completion

  • PRO1 - Project work, 4.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
  • PRO2 - Project work, 2.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
