The education program consists of 300 credits which is equivalent to five years full time study. The first three years of training is mainly within first cycle and in Swedish. After completing all the courses the student has access to a bachelor's degree. The last two years are at advanced level (second cycle) and is taught together with students from an international master's programs, usually with English as the teaching language.
The courses in first two years are compulsory for all students in the program except for a course in the last period of the year 2 when the student chooses between two courses depending on the choice of focus. The courses during the first two years are basic, required courses in mathematics, science, economics, law and technology. Before year three students choose a specialization in various specializations in preparation for the final two years of master's programs.
The program goal is to provide students with professional contacts while studying and preparing them for their future working life. The teaching of the programm contains practical and realistic steps to attain exercises, seminars, laboratory work, field exercises, field visits and project data with strong links to the forthcoming tasks. There will also be a good opportunity to write degree project in cooperation with companies and government agencies Guest Lecturers from industry at the annual program courses and seminars focusing on future work with external contributors contributing to a good understanding of future tasks. The profile of the program is selected during the first semester through the course of Civil Engineering and Urban Management Process. In the optional introductory course in Civil Engineering and Urban Management Engineering branch organizations is invited to participate.
A course in theory and research methodology, degree project work at the advanced level and other courses at the advanced level of the program makes the student develop a basic exploratory research. Several of the courses include project work and seminars, which means training in related research skills.
