"Treatment and analysis of LSI data" was the theme of the MetalBeams autumn seminar, with the inventory of data reduction and analysis software having a natural spot in the programme

MetalBeams is an initiative within SIP Metallic Materials, run by Jernkontoret, Swerim and RISE, to encourage the use of large-scale infrastructure (synchrotron x-ray and neutron sources) by the metals industry.

At the autumn seminar on 30 November, around 50 researchers participated in person at Jernkontoret or on line.

The seminar theme was Treatment and analysis of LSI data.  After an introduction to the Opportunities and challenges at diffraction beamlines by Mads Jörgensen (Aarhus University and MAX IV's DANMAX beamline manager), researchers from Swerim and Rise presented examples of industry measurements and associated data analysis steps. The data analysis routines included evaluation of small angle scattering data, grazing incidence as well as photoemission data analysis and micromechanical behaviours as well as imaging data.

Dr Tao Zhou (CeXS and KTH) also presented the CeXS Technical Report "Inventory of data reduction and analysis software used in high-energy X-ray research at PETRA III", which can be found here (pdf 561 kB) .
