KTH account
You need a KTH account to be able to use resources. Read more about the account and how to activate or change its password. KTH account is needed to use many resources.
Your KTH account
Your KTH account is your identity in KTH's central user database. You use the account to access IT and student services, for example Personal menu, e-mail, Canvas, wireless network, KTH Print or Ladok.
A KTH account is automatically created for you after you have been accepted to a programme or course. The account consists of a username and password. The password is personal and must be kept secret and thus only known by you.
In our computer systems, we use the same username and password as the KTH account. If you change the password in one place, it is automatically changed in all other systems connected to the account.
1. Activate your account
As a new student, you need to activate your KTH account before it can be used. You can activate your KTH account using BankID or an activation code obtained at KTH.
2. Activate MFA
After you have activated your KTH account, one must activate the security-enhancing measure Multifaktorautentisering (MFA) to ensure that the correct person is logging into your KTH account.

Manage your KTH account
On the Manage your KTH account page, you can, among other things:
- View account details and settings
- Manage multifactor authentication, MFA, for your KTH account
- Change your password
- Link FrejaID
- Activate your KTH account
- Increase your level of assurance using an e‑ID
