This course starts with the sketching process and continues through the preparation of draft documents, paying particular attention to the interaction between various disciplines in the design process.
Examples of course elements:
• Architectural elements
Examples of terms that are covered: Purpose and location. Space and volume. Detail and entirety. Scale and adaptation.
• Architectural creation
From requirements to ideas and suggestions: Which processes are involved? From a concept to the details of technical implementation. How do they work? How does one ensure the final result during the process?
• Sketching assignment, rough sketch and drawing exercises
Short sketch and practice assignments followed by a review. A long design assignment with supervision, and a final class review. Rough sketching and form exercises.
• The history of architecture
The experience of architecture Literature and lectures. An overview of architectural history. Main architectural trends with a focus on contemporary architecture.
