Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Elementary German grammar. Pronunciation practice, practice in understanding, speaking and reading simple texts.

Intended learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • speak and write the language in simple everyday situations (level A1)
  • understand and give an account (in Swedish) of information from a variety of elementary texts (level A2)
  • identify facts from authentic texts with some connection to specialised topics (level A2/B1)
  • identify the main content of short oral presentations on well-known topics (level A2/B1)
  • state basic facts and search for certain information on German-speaking countries.

General entrance requirements for university studies, i e completed upper secondary schooling. Applicants should have no preknowledge of German. More information is available on our website.

Examination and completion

  • ANN1 - Assingment, 1.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • TENA - Examination, 4.5 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
