Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course is a collaboration between several universities in different countries. The students work in international and interdisciplinary teams on a sustainability-related issue. The teams choose their issue themselves and present a solution. The work is mainly organised by the students themselves, with the support of the teacher. Some sessions are scheduled, but the main part of the work will be carried out independently or in groups. The stages of the course are as follows: Students identify a question, cooperate towards a solution, and present their solution.

Students practice communicative skills such as discussing, arguing and presenting. They also practice their multicultural skills by cooperating in international groups.

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to:

  • Cooperate efficiently in transnational teams, utilise the strengths of the team members and contribute efficiently to the team's aim
  • Identify and define problems and possibilities related to sustainable development
  • Efficiently communicate complex ideas and solutions in speech and writing, using appropriate language and register
  • Show cultural awareness and skills by understanding and respecting cultural differences in transnational teams
  • Take initiatives in their learning process, set up aims, manage their time and independently search for resources.
