Partners

Electrons Matter integrates the expertise of five leading academic and seven industrial partners to train a new generation of materials scientists.

The partners in the Electrons Matter MSCN are:

  • KTH Royal Institute of Technology (coordinator) - a leading international technical university, located in Sweden. (*)
  • CIMNE. The Centre International de metodes numerics en Enginyeria. A leading research organization in numerical methods and computational engineering, located in Spain.
  • COMTES FHT AS is a Czech research organization specialising in the development and research of metallic materials and their processing technologies.
  • Freemelt is a Swedish company that develops advanced 3D printers for metal components, aiming to become the leading supplier in additive manufacturing (AM) by leveraging E-PBF (Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion) technology.
  • Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). FAU is one of the leading universities in Germany. (*)
  • The Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon conducts cutting-edge international research for a changing world and is located in Germany.
  • Kiel University (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel). Founded in 1665 is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious university in Schleswig-Holstein, and a leading research university in Germany
  • Linköping University in Sweden is a top university that is in continuous and close contact with industry and society. (*)
  • NOVATRON, a Swedish company with a unique solution to the elusive fusion plasma containment problem.
  • Polytechnic of Milan, the largest Italian scientific-technological university. (*)
  • The Plansee Group - one of the world's leading powder metallurgy companies, which specialises in products made from the materials molybdenum and tungsten, represented by its Austrian company.
  • UPC, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, is one of the largest polytechnic universities in Spain, with many leading academic institutions in their fields. (*)
  • VBN Components is a Swedish company specialising in additive manufacturing services for producing high-performance metal components often using their patented materials. 
  • VTT is Finland's largest research and technology organisation, focusing on applied research and innovation to support economic competitiveness and societal development.
  • 6K Additive. A US-based manufacturer specialising in premium metal powders for additive manufacturing and alloy additions for the aluminum melt industry.

The university partners (*) are the formal beneficiaries of the grant because they will receive funding from the Horizon Europe. That funding will co finance the salaries of PhD students and networking activities of all partners.
