Bring an Expert User to Beamtime

If your inexperienced team is going to a beamtime and you bring along an experienced/'Expert' user to support you. Inexperienced means that the main team has never conducted experiments at that specific beamline or used the technique before. An expert user means someone that has conducted several experiments at that specific beamline or such technique. The expert user has to be an employee of KTH at the time of the beamtime and cannot be the PI/co-proposer of the project. RELAX can fund the cost of the trip and accommodation up to max 25'000 SEK, but we reserve the right to reduce the funding as found appropriate. The beamtime has to take place after the time of application.

Application

To apply, send an e-mail to RELAX responsible Martin Månsson with the subject line "RELAX Funding": condmat@kth.se containing the following information:

1. Specify that this is an application for funding "Bring an Expert User to Beamtime"
2. Write an explanation to why your team is inexperienced
3. Write a very short explanation to who is the Expert user and why such person should join the beamtime
4. Write a short explanation about the project and to which source/beamline you will go
5. Attach the approval letter/e-mail and proposal to the e-mail
6. Write how much funding you request and motivate it with a short but descriptive budget

After the beamtime you are requested to make a short report summarizing the success of the beamtime describing also how the expert user was crucial for such outcome, ideally with some nice photos from the experiment. The report will be published on the RELAX homepage. Only after such report is received the funding will be transferred to the PI of the project or the Expert User directly.
