Drone School at KTH

Technical foundation and practical experience with drone systems

The course provides knowledge of drone technology and its applications within infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and societal functions. You gain technical understanding, practical flight training, and insight into the regulatory framework. The course consists of four steps, of which the first two are completed independently.

Course content

1. Preparation (self-study)

Basic drone technology and regulations studied online.

2. Drone certificate

EU drone certificate (A1/A3), obtained independently before the course day.

3. Workshop and lectures at KTH (1 day)

Lectures and discussions covering:

• Applications – wind power inspection, agriculture, emergency services, infrastructure
• Technology – communication systems, control, power supply, aerodynamics
• Regulations – what is permitted and existing limitations
• Future – development trends and challenges
• Experience exchange

Overall, the course covers many topics and proceeds at a fairly fast pace.

4. Practical flight training (1 day)

Simulator training and real-world flying.
