Learning outcomes

At the completion of this course the student should be able to:

Demonstrate the use of tools for analysing a contemporary and historical situation from a sustainable and ecological perspective.

Present a critical discussion of concepts relating to sustainability and ecology.

Use this understanding to outline an individual standpoint towards the central topics in the course.

Communicate their arguments clearly through group digital and verbal presentations.

Communicate their argument individually through written and graphic presentations.

Course main content

The content of the course is to prepare students for their diploma projects.The course will contain different modes of learning. One part will be based on lectures and discussions, another one will be a workshop where the students both work in groups and individually. A symposium with invited guests will also be part of the course. Themes that will be focused upon is: What could a critical sustainability mean? Could we develop a method in relation to these themes?

The course will be based on lectures, discussions, workshops and a symposium.

Eligibility

One year fully approved architectural studies at the advanced level, courses and projects.

Requirements for final grade

80% attendance on all compulsory activites, including seminars, review and tutorials

Pass grade for research task according to specifications
